As new homeowners with a large backyard, two young kids, a dog, and stormwater runoff impacting their downhill neighbors, this family had a clear set of priorities. They wanted space to gather, room for active play, and a thoughtful solution to manage water. We designed a spacious patio for social time, created a movement-friendly area for growing boys, and linked the house to the garden with paths and plantings. We built tiered garden beds with retaining walls and installed a dry well to slow and capture runoff. A diverse palette of native plants adds structure, beauty, and ecological value throughout the garden.
