A Working Courtyard

In this historic neighborhood, we replaced black asphalt with a permeable cobblestone driveway and a gravel courtyard. The permeable surfaces are more environmentally friendly and support everyday life—parking, hosting fire-pit gatherings, rinsing mountain bikes, and giving dogs room to run. Carefully layered plantings provide privacy and enclosure within a tight residential setting, creating a durable, flexible outdoor space that respects its surroundings while supporting modern use.
